Dispute over a planting service contract between an agricultural input company in Fujian and farmers

Plaintiffs, including farmer Chen and 18 other households from Tong'an District, Xiamen City, entered into a "Crop Planting Technical Service Contract" with Defendant Fujian Certain Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. The contract stipulated that the Defendant would provide comprehensive technical guidance on rice cultivation and supply agricultural inputs to the Plaintiffs, guaranteeing a minimum yield of 1000 jin per mu. In the event of under-yield caused by inadequate technical guidance or defective agricultural products, the Defendant agreed to compensate for all losses. During contract performance, the Defendant failed to provide the agreed-upon technical guidance, and the supplied agricultural products were defective, resulting in an actual yield of only approximately 600 jin per mu for the Plaintiffs' rice fields and widespread crop loss. Consequently, the Plaintiffs filed a lawsuit seeking compensation for their total economic losses amounting to 96 ten thousand yuan.

The court ruled that the defendant shall compensate the plaintiff and 18 other farmers a total economic loss of {10,000 yuan; the defendant shall bear all litigation costs and judicial appraisal fees for this case.
